Default Tolumnia Jairak Rainbow 'Pink'

Second blooming for this one. This year's growth was twice the size of last year's and the spike is more robust as are the colors. The leaves are bronze colored from full sun (when it shines.)

Culture: planted in a 2" pot with large charcoal chunks - no other additives. Watered every-other day until it goes into full growth with new fan, then daily watering. Dries out completely overnight. Watering is done with nutrient solution (MSU and RO water mixed to 125 ppm Nitrogen. 2 drops per gallon KLN as additive). Humidity averages 35% during winter months and 45-50% summer (maybe higher on really humid days.) Pot sits up against a south window where it gets full sun whenever the sun shines.

Thanks for looking

Wow, Ross, certainly a beauty to have. I hadn't heard that name before, but will be on the look out from now on.

Try Tolumnia Jairek Rainbow 'Pink' (Miniature): Orchids By Hausermann I bought mine locally at a show, and it was about the color of the one in this ad. With more light and MSU regimen, it is a lot brighter coloring this year.

Dear Ross, what a beauty - thanks for sharing! I agree that the culture info is very useful, especially for a newbie like me trying to learn the mystery of orchids.

p.s. You take gorgeous photos, too!

Joy

Awesome blooms, Ross. I'm really interested in the Tolumnias, have a need to maximize a minimal amount of room for growing, and your post is indeed really useful. Is it true that Tolumnia = equitant Oncidiums?

Rosso, just so you know I came home from Fantasy Orchids today with a mini Oncidium Tom Wilson 'Velvet Ruby' HCC/AOS - a mini equitant. It doesn't take up much space at all.

It's about 2-1/2 tall and is in bud. I'll post pics for ya later, if you're interested.
