Default Credit card hacked

beware little people.. Im just one of them little persons with little money and someone been using my credit card to buy stuff in denver. I am glad Visa Fraud called me and it was for a good reason this time. They made me mad last time they made me call them bec they declined me buying new bed linen and some comfy down pillows. I know that was unusual but I really wanted new sheets and pillow cases. I did get them but I had to call the service center to unblock my card
This time was the real deal they took 450 bucks from me before they got stopped at Macys in another city.
My online acct is not up to date so I cant tell how much they have taken. My savings is still intact but they were eating up my money thru credit off my debit card and would have eventually gotten to that. Oh my it just take so much out of my with all thats gone on lately. Its hard to enjoy anything. I need some flowers to bloom for me now make me feel better. Big sigh

RJ, I think a lot of people are the victims of this right now with so many of the big chains being victimized themselves. I think that the banks are taking care of it as well as can be expected.I just got an email from my bank about Home Depot being hacked, although I had heard about it a couple weeks ago.
Sorry to hear that you took a hit though....Jean

Im a Home Depot Junkie too and I have to say I think this is where it started bec my debit card is all I had been using at Home Depot.....I still need stuff at Home depot Im just not using my bank acct debit card anymore.
Its different when they take credit card companies money than when they take yours. I got all kinds of hoops to jump thru and papers to sign and fill out. My acct has been closed but the bottom line is that this was made as A Point of Sale purchase at a counter and whom ever should have asked for some IDentification like the policy states. Thats why Visa will go back to the retailer for not following procedure. Online is hard bec the address is different and thats a red flag. They should be able to catch these people... I hope they do.. Im having crackers and a slim jim for dinner tonite bec of them. I hope they enjoy jailhouse bologna and cheese sandwiches. I hope someone steal their cheese.

thanks Jean .. I just never thought one would waste their time taking my little bit of money.. I think different now. I learn Fast thanks to growing orchids

I failed to mention also that when you call Visa the person on the other end barely speaks english. Im sorry Im not bi or multi lingual and therefore I can only be an American. Why do I have to struggle so much to understand someone over the phone Visa? Can you please put some english as an only language speaking people up in there for ones like me who arent very well phrased in cryptic conversationalism?

ya change out the card is what Ive done already and not use it unless I have to...like you say daddy using cash kind of sucks but you feel safer taking the money out yourself instead of someone else....

Ive changed all my auto pay accts for my utilities bec they were also on that acct. Its convenient to have things done for you but they come at a price of worrying what someone else is doing also...

Time to change the Modus Operandi ya know

Thanks Daddy Fern

Sorry to hear. My daughter went through it, too. It is not very fun. It can happen to anyone, unfortunately. Home Depot should make it good if this happened through them. Just fill out all that paperwork and be patient. Good luck!

thanks to you too
Im being patient and working on my grace and goodwill towards all men. Lest they deserve my grace or not. Thats what grace is about right?
Its a pain in the patute for shore.... less than a month ago I had over 20k in that bank..Glad I bought a house with it for someone took it from me. I would have had to hunt them down and advertise how I was going to treat them when I did catch em. I never set out to hunt a weasel and been denied the joy of not catching one

It is too bad that banks and merchants don't have a more secure system to safeguard people's money. Well, good luck. I hope it is all returned to you as that is what would be just in this case.

Home Depot offered a monitoring service for a year which I have enrolled in. I never use a debit card because of the issue around hackers obtaining your pin and drawing cash. However if Costco gets hacked, then I am screwed as that retailer doesn't accept all credit cards, just debit cards.
One would have thought that retailers would have increased security 1000x + after the Target debacle, but nope. Overseas they mostly have smart chip encrypted cards which are virtually 100% safe. Card companies are not keen on rolling these out here in the USA because of costs. Maybe with fraud costs mounting, a tipping point will soon be reached.

Well that's rotten. I hope you get it all worked out. And I am keeping my fingers crossed it never happens to me. Maybe it is good we may all have to go back to the cash system.
