For a so called "senior member" to raise this and a so called "super moderator" to allow this to continue is a disgrace which reduces the credibility of the forum and those who run it.
Just shows this is more of a general chat room rather than serious about orchids and reflects on the competence of the so called "senior people".
Please note that this is the "Off Topic - Totally" Forum, the correct place for comments that aren't related to orchids. There is nothing in this thread that attacks any member, or breaks other rules of the Forum, or of civility.

disgrace!? wow....haha must be kind of lonely in that tower

and yes, this sub forum is a veritable chat room for like-interested people to discuss NON-orchid things. you are not compelled to visit or read it and you are free to leave as well.

Wow, talk about a rude and ill-informed over-reaction. As a member for over three years, I would think you would have at least noticed that there is a sub-section of the forum called "Off Topic - Totally." Every forum I belong to (on a number of different hobbies, not just orchids) has an off-topic section. It's just the way most discussion forums work. You don't have to read threads in this section if you don't want to -- or any part of the forum if you think nobody is serious about orchids or you're concerned about the competence of those who post here.

As for flying and the difficulties associated with it, I don't fly, ever, period. This thread does not make me sorry.

That sounds like an absolute nightmare. Years ago we were flying back from Disney Orlando, with a very tired 6 year to DFW. A hurricane was in the area and the schedule was a mess, the flight was then cancelled. However, being an AA platinum member was put on the next available flight which meant 4 people from that flight were bumped. Was really grateful to be on it but did feel a bit sorry for the people who lost their seats as there were no flights for at least 24 hours after ours left.

What the heck? Having a bad day are you?

Do a quick search on the forum, take a look at the plants those "senior member" and "super moderator" grow, and tell us again how they lack credibility.

Not only are they very very competent growers, they're also people who take time to share their knowledge and help others.

You're coming after someone who did nothing to you, on a thread they made, on a forum no one forced you to visit; how does that add anything to the orchid world?

I see I'm not the first to be appalled by this post. I agree with every response to this post. Furthermore, I think you owe the OP AND the moderators a public apology. If I say more, the mods will gag me.

As you all say....Off topic, but that does not (should not) prevent free expression of opinions even if some find distasteful. After all, that is what makes any debate on a forum so long as balance - good and bad- is maintained. Forums are not just for people to hear what they want to hear but to get balanced debate.
I am done with this one sided forum so shall not sign in again. Moderators can block me if they wish.
