I'm grateful for good books, of which there are no shortages. Without books, I don't know how I would ever get through a Michigan winter, and I certainly don't know how I would have gotten through the last year of the pandemic. I have a library nearby, a small rural library that doesn't have a huge selection, but I have the ability to borrow books from all over the state electronically and read them on my laptop, or I can order actual books through the inter-library exchange program in my state. If all else fails, there are also online used book sellers that may have a hard-to-find title for a reasonable price.

And speaking of Michigan winters, I'm also grateful for warm clothes and Sorel boots.

You nailed it. It was also my grandma’s name

She was a Holocaust survivor, an immigrant, not a high school graduate, a business manager (ran my grandpas butcher/grocery), spoke 7 languages and raised three kids. As far as I know she didn’t smile....until she got her first grand kid, my sister, then the life of hard became a grandma of soft. We got the best of her lol

Magnolia for the great grandmother on the other side. She was Maria. I never met her so I took the M and went with one of the greatest Grateful Dead songs of all time. Sugar Magnolia

Grateful....bringing us back on topic. Dolly hates it when I digress.

Whoah! I came to be grateful, but DC just took my grateful to a whole different level this morning. What a powerful and moving story about your bubbe. Gracias for sharing.

So today I am grateful for DC's grandma, and all who traveled that path. Who had the strength and courage to survive, and along that path, to grow, love and find happiness.

Grateful for my Rosa, who traveled a similar yet different path, and by example taught me the same lessons.

Grateful for the people here, from all different walks of life, who make this world go 'round and my life more full and interesting. Aleichem Shalom.

Today's offerings:

The lovely Spanish lady who reupholstered a leather chair for me last year. I've been needing to get my sewing machine serviced for a while now but haven't found anywhere on the island that offers the service. In desperation I sent her a message in my very basic Spanish asking if she knew of somewhere. Within minutes she had replied, Yes, and she would collect the machine from my house on Saturday, get it serviced and return it!

Whoever it was on the forum that suggested using an aquarium hand held suction pump to remove water from large glass vases. My vanda and I are indebted to you!

My OH. I found out today that he has ordered me a box of 48 Cadburys Creme Eggs through Amazon. One of my all time choc treats that I can't buy on the island. Now I could have one a week for almost a year but that would risk them going 'off'. Can't have that, it'll have to be one a day ..... just counting the days until they arrive

So sorry there's no wood burning anything in my actual living space now, but grateful I still have a way to stay warm when power goes out. Still wish I could have a wood burning fireplace, but grateful for natural gas since I no longer can do wood.

Very grateful for figuring out a run-around to get water to our outside horses, cows, etc. We are fortunate to have options.

So grateful to still be above ground, because it just feels like there's so much left to accomplish in my little bubble of life.

Oh how I know that feeling well of missing Cadbury Creme Eggs!
Didn't have them here in Australia when we first came here but a kind friend brought me a box when they were visiting family. Oh joy!

Grateful for good friend with kind thoughts.

Sometimes the small pleasures are the ones that make the day worth it

Today. The first tomato of the year from my garden. Sunny skies and 81*.

Amen

Well today I'll be dating myself.

I discovered some of my favorite old music has been digitized and is now on Amazon! It sounds better than ever, it must have been remixed too.

I love grocery pickup! And I love that my husband is picking those groceries up!

We are warm and safe and dry, the sun was shining today and I am very very grateful.

And I am grateful that little Guinness slept on the pillow next to me all last night. It's nice to be loved unconditionally.

Clearly I am very spoiled.
