I am grateful for all my OB friends and especially you, Fuente Rav. I do feel so much better today. I spent two hours with my orchids, have two or three struggling, I made PH corrected water, added KelpMax and have watered all the growers and strugglers and have them in a east window. Have all my bloomers and Oc alliance, and my poor spotted tou, who is now a hr old from seeding. I see that the black spots are spreading on one leaf, sigh. I am going to keep her and be patient.

I am grateful for you Ray, who keeps talking about KelpMax reminding me that my seedling slow growing, and getting a few buds of roots. I am going to leave these two babies in the KelpMax for 24 hours and then leave to air for a while, until I remember to givre them a roots drink again. Many thanks Ray and I am happy you and yours are healthy and happy.

Just one from me today, but for me it's a biggie!

Bit of a long story: when I first visited this island on a holiday about 25 years ago the complex I stayed at had a very friendly Uruguayan head gardener called Nelson. I spoke no Spanish at all then and he spoke no English but a mutual love of plants demolished the barriers. On subsequent holidays he would always take me around the grounds showing me what had changed/was growing well etc. When I moved to the island he was thrilled and would always stop to say hello in the supermarket or toot and wave if he saw us out anywhere.
And then I didn't see him for ages. When I visited a friend who was staying at the holiday complex I asked one of the other gardeners where he was. I was told he had a bad heart attack 6 months ago. I asked how he was now and this guy looked sad and shrugged and I thought he said he had died. I mentally said goodbye.
In my garden I have a large poinsettia tree grown from a cutting that Nelson gave me about 8 years ago. Each time it blooms, just before Christmas, I think about Nelson and how sad it was that he was taken so young.
So today, I was walking my dog and went past a van parked outside a nearby house. On the side it said, "Jardineria Nelson". I've never met anyone else with the name here. I thought could it possibly be him?? I cut round the back of the house over some rough ground and there, up a palm tree, was the Nelson I knew! I was so happy.
I didn't disturb him then as he was up a ladder with a chainsaw but I came back the same way a little later and he was on the drive so I could safely call out. He was as pleased to see me and we had a lovely chat.

I can't remember ever being so grateful to have been wrong.

I am grateful to you for sharing this story. It made me smile and hope the same Miracle of Life visits my daughter today and bring her closer to health. Here is to you and Nelson and good friends...

Dolly, I have my profile on the list to get a shot for those over 65 and gratefully being patient for the call to come telling me to schedule my first vaccine.

Free mammograms every 2 years for ladies of a certain age.

Best friend got all clear after major health scare (not Covid related).

Covid Vaccinations going well, OH should get theirs in a couple of weeks.

Today...

I am grateful for another year under my belt, because the alternative sucks.

Most grateful to have friends who love me and remember me in both decadent and evil ways... (Gracias Dolly)

For God watching over me, and having yet to tell me it's my time. I have so much unfinished business. Ya hear me God?!? Keep my candle lit for now.... Gracias!

3 for today:

Televised cricket! It's keeping my OH occupied watching competitions in Australia and Abu Dhabi as well as the various Test series. He was getting quite despondent with the COVID situation but this seems to have bucked him up.

My weekly delivery of free range eggs from a neighbour - the thought of going back to supermarket eggs gives me the shudders!

My Phals starting to open their blooms - each flower puts a big smile on my face - and it's mainly thanks to OB advice that the plants have survived and thrived!

Amen, and excellent timing FuerteRav. Was headed here myself.

I'm so thankful that I instilled the better parts of me into my kids, and they have ignored the worst.

I'm blessed to have a significant other, who always instills confidence in me regardless of how I see myself at the moment.

I'm most grateful for a pick me up from a friend, who helps me focus on the Best I can be and d/c the rest.

Today I am grateful for an upcoming day of warmth and sunshine. It is supposed to get up to almost sixty degrees today... almost unheard of this time of year. My soul needs the time to be outside, walk around the gardens to scheme of spring.

I am grateful to work in the garage a bit today with a friend. Winter tends to make our outside shelters cluttered, which drives the old German grandma in me bonkers. I'm grateful during that process for the ability to pass forward to someone in need furniture and dressers, and outside benches no longer needed by me while decluttering my own life.

After a four-month Covid based delay, my groomer is back on track. Dogs have all had a recent spa day, washing off four months of mud and crud, and clipped back down to a manageable length. I am super grateful for the care she shows for my beloved pets, and the ability to pay for their care since my old hands just aren't up to the task anymore.

Had the honor yesterday of seeing pictures of a friend's absolutely gorgeous newborn baby. Very newborn... like a few hours old. I am most grateful to be included, and for the many warm and vivid memories it brought me of the birth of my own.

A buddy here sent me some sundew seeds back in December. I planted them up, and gave them to daughter for Christmas, along with a couple other sundews. She is SO excited, as the seeds are starting to sprout. And one of the older sundews I gave her is blooming now. She doesn't have a green thumb, but giving her a whole setup for success appears to have worked. Grateful to him, for his generosity... and grateful for her excitement.

A friend I haven't texted with a lot lately got in touch. She's getting a new for her rescue pup, one year old, as a new companion for her remaining senior dog. She needs me to help pick out the name. I'm grateful and honored at her request. Kinda makes me feel like a dog whisperer.

I am eternally grateful for my expanding family, the proliferation of the vaccines and the (due to the expanding family) coffee!

This thread is a really great place to get yourself centered for the day and have an idea of how you should have your head on
