Diuris maculata
Default Diuris maculata

Diuris muculata is one of the tuberous terrestrial orchids from the eastern states of Australia. They flower reliably and aren't too difficult to grow but they can be a little slow to multiply. They respond to the same cultivation methods used for most other Australian terrestrials.

If you can't make out the flowers, here's a closeup.

It is really cool looking! I got to say I love it, and thanks for the information.

It's a smallish plant. The flowers are about 2cm across and the flower stem is about 30cm high. Each plant has two grass-like leaves about 20cm long.

Awesome! I've just potted up my first Pterostylis. Hopefully they'll do as well as your Diuris...

Good luck with them. They're excellent beginner plants. They comparatively forgiving and, when you iron out the cultural bugs, they're extremely rewarding. I first started out growing terrestrials with a pot of Pterostylis curta x nutans. Since that pot, I have acquired much more challenging, showier and desireable terrestrial species but this plant still remains a sentimental favourite.
