European Terrestrial Watch!
Default European Terrestrial Watch!

As directed, I began watering my nine barren pots of European terrestrials just after Halloween. I was highly skeptical that anything was going to happen, as the tubers have just been sitting in their pots, dry for months- and I've never tried these before. Well, I was away for the weekend and came home to some much needed rain in Santa Barbara, and, lo and behold- sprouts in 4 of the 9 pots. 2 Ophrys and 2 Orchis. I'm thrilled. We'll see if the other 5 are just lagging behind and will decide to cooperate as well.

Anyone else starting to see new life with these guys?

Nice! Mine are starting to wake up too. There are still some empty pots... they are just getting going (and I started watering early in October so mine may even be a bit ahead) So be patient, the others likely will be showing their little heads soon. Still early in the season.

Took a look around after our nice rain... I think it's going to be a really good year for these. Lots of action. From the Europeans and the Aussies too.
