i really liked the flowers on these When Roberta posted them a while back...she was kind enough to give me a huge chunk of it and i killed it...

i wanted to try again so i got two from Ecuagenera and tried a mix with sand as i read in a few places online......low and behold. it worked!!!

Sob. aspera has been in the new mix for 2 months and just put out 6 new growths!!!

I have two I bought bare-root from Ecuagenera in July 2020, in large pots. They have made new growth but are clearly not established yet!

Sobralia fragrans is a small species that can flower in a 4"/10cm pot. I brought one of those home from the Pacific Orchid Exposition 2018 and grew it well in S/H, until rats ate it. Those of you who like Sobralias but don't have much space, consider this species.

ES, are your large ones in SH as well or what are you growing them in?

I put them in a mix of #4 (extra large) perlite and high-quality potting soil, about 75%:25%. It stays moist but is airy.
