Default Ornithocephalus gladiatus, Restrepia brachpus, Haraella odorata - all drama!

Ornithocephalus gladiatus - I've only had this since September and was really excited about the spikes, but they are disappointing. Flowers aren't great. First two lasted 2 days each. I still love the plant itself and actually think the little branches it grew look better than the flowers. Also, like my other Ornithocephalus, the flowers are TINY - maybe half the size of a grommet on a pair of jeans. Hopefully once it settles in it will put on a better display.

Restrepia brachpus - This guy arrived in really rough shape in July. Thought it wouldn't make it. Lots of yellow, curled leaves. It's yellower than the picture shows. Does have lots of little kikis on the ends though. I told my plant sitter in December not to worry if it dies, because it probably was about to. Wrong! Also, this is the first flower my husband has really, really liked. Pics are of 1st and 4th flower. Each only lasted a few days, and are less than 1" long. Couple more spikes are coming. Yeah for living!!

Haraella odorata - Yes, you can be annoyed when your flowers bloom. My mom bought me this for Christmas. It was in bloom and I explained that I had one that hadn't ever bloomed and was much larger. She said, "Let's just put this one in the basket then." Now this one is blooming AGAIN a few weeks later. Yes, I love the flower, but I'm annoyed at my other plant. Come on!!!!

Nice! Can really see the bird's head and wings on the Ornithocephalus.

Maybe your mom needs to talk to the other Haraella.

I'd forgotten they are said to look like birds. They really do!

As for my mother, she kills a much higher proportion of her orchids than I do
