I reset the house and then i was telling her i fixed it and she let me walk right up and pet her belly a few times before she took off. back in the house the next day!

Oh wow! What a fantastic experience!

This yard is a nature reserve of itself!
I'm gonna take the bulbophyllum moss pole idea for myself. :P

Any idea of the ID on 13? And your little owl does, indeed, look very content. I still think it's so marvelous that she was so grateful that she let you pet her. Smart little bird!

I need to try that pumpkin beer.

DirtyCoconuts 05-09-2023 10:11 PM

Roberta. It is a vanda type. My neighbor bought it like ten years ago at the Redlands show and paid a ton, north of 75$. She never got a flower. About two years ago we swapped a bunch of asshole plants and this one now blooms like 7 times a year…. Complete jerk

Flowers are about 2.5 inches. The spread of the petals is more unique in my experience with vandas but I am slowly realizing that it is as nebulous of a genus as any other lol.

Roberta 05-09-2023 11:05 PM

Sometimes that's the secret... what doesn't bloom for you may do it for some one else and vice versa. Just perversity. Was thinking maybe V. denisoniana, but the lip doesn't track.... V. denisoniana it has more white in the center and at the base of the lip. Anyhow, it's pretty!

estación seca 05-09-2023 11:29 PM

I agree, lots of V. denisoniana. Motes makes hybrids like that. Perhaps ask them if it looks familiar.
