I can check the lists of growers for near blooming sized plants and send you a revised list in PM this afternoon. Whatever help you need, Camille, let me know. I'm happy to assist. Writing your thesis is no easy task and you don't need a ton of distractions. I'm sure everyone here wants to see you do a great job with that as much as we all want to participate in the project. I can also email growers in the U.S. for you.

I just spent the entire morning researching and preparing the Hadrolaelias and the post got dumped! That is what I get for not saving a copy.

At any rate, I don't have the energy to go back and do that long list again so I will summarize.

I found plenty of BS in the group starting at the low end of $17.50 at SBOE to the highest end of $75 for a select division.

I found one new vendor that was not on the original list.
SLO Orchid has divisions from $22 to $30 (BS)

Also, I did a quick eBay search and there are several BS on at various prices with good sellers. This could be an option for USA.

I also found a new EU vendor for C. aclandiae that appears to be NBS or BS, but when the post got dumped, I lost the name. I will have to find it again.

Basically, as long as we don't limit to a single Laelia in the group, there are enough vendors IMO to cover at the price range of $25. I found only SBOE to be lower than $25 with a BS.

---------- Post added at 10:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:07 AM ----------

Found it.

Cattleya aclandiae - EUR24 (may be BS, I can't tell)
Cattl. aclandiae fast blühstarke Pflanze Nachzucht 2002 - Asendorfer Orchideenzucht

---------- Post added at 10:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:15 AM ----------

Gold Country
Marlow's
Chadwicks

have higher priced in the group, but an option for folks who want some select varieties.

I also found one at Exotic Orchids of Maui for $18 (NBS).

Ah that sucks.... Which is why I now write all my very long posts in a word document first. Had posts get dumped in the past, and it's so infuriating to have to start all over again.

I'll include all of the info you found in the voting thread. That way folks can make an informed vote instead of just voting for the plant they like best.
I've heard of that EU vendor, I'll read up on them this evening. Looks like we've got some more options for Europe now!!

That'd be great if you could do that for the US vendors, I can manage with the EU ones. If you go in the first post of the plant suggestion thread, there should be direct links to the plants for many of the vendors.

Anyway, another day at work is done, and I'm off to my vegetable garden a while. I need to dig a massive pit to install another rainwater collection barrel (no running water at the garden). After that I'll do a bit of work on the project!

The concern Camille mentioned with the Hadrolaelias is that SBOE appears to be the only vendor and she would prefer to have multiple vendors or at least more than one. Seattle Orchid is getting some in in June, but they don't usually order 30+ plants. I can talk to them when I head out there this weekend and see what they have that will fit the bill.

I really feel like C. Aclandiae should be pulled from consideration. It's difficult to find in Europe and the Australians can only get it in flask.

The other thing that bugs me about having SBOE as the primary source for a plant is that I do remember some issue in a previous project, in that there are certain states that they will not ship to, or impose quarantine periods. Need to check on that...

SBOE does not ship to Hawaii without a permit and if they have to ship to Florida or Louisiana, they quarantine plants for 30 days prior to shipping.

Just what I was looking at. And California has to pay 7.75% extra. I'm going to go through the sign up list to see how many people are affected by this. But it's looking like the Hadrolaelia candidate is out.

Or maybe not out...

Of all the people who list a location in their profile, no one is from Florida, louisiana, hawaii or alaska. There are 3 people (you are one of them) that I don't know where they are.

Camille, the forum seems to be eating my PMs for some reason. Here's the list I have been trying to PM you. I have emails in on some of these. I noted where I have sent emails to vendors for more info.

Cattleya Aclandiae

Marlow has 2 plants of blooming size. 39$

OrchidWeb (BS) 50$

Gold Country and Seagrove I have emails in to, to find out if their plants are blooming size or near blooming size. Their prices are cheap, so I think they're probably seedlings.

All of the other vendors listed state clearly that their plants are seedlings one year or less out of flask.

Leptotes Bicolor

Andy's (BS) 20$

Seagrove (NBS) 30$

J&L Orchids (BS) 20$

Marlow (5 left, BS) 30$

Carter and Holmes (BS) 15$ with limited time special discount.

Clown Alley (BS) 20$

Hadrolaelia

These do not appear to be commonly available. I am finding two vendors with any of the plants on the list, besides SBOE.

Laelia Alaorii SVO (BS 5 left)

Seattle Orchid will not be getting Laelia Pumila until June 1st and they usually order between 3 and 5 plants of these more

Podangis Dactyloceras:

Marlow (3 left BS) 22$

Orchid Web (BS) 30$

Parkside Orchids (BS) 25$

Hausermann's (BS) 25$

Diamond 25-30$

Al's Orchid Greenhouse 16$

CalOrchid (BS) 20$

NWO (Not sure on size) 20$

J&L 20$

Clown Alley (BS) 15$

Oeoniella Polystachys

No idea how many of these would be available. I'll send out emails on them now, since there are only 3 vendors with this at blooming size on the list.

Odom’s Orchids (BS) 25$

Orchids Amore (BS) 20$

Den Cucumerinum

Marlow (BS) 25$

Al's Orchid Greenhouse (BS) 22$

Paramount (BS) 26$

Seattle Orchid (4 left. BS) 27$

Hausermann's (BS) 23$

Clown Alley (BS) 20$

Amesiella Monticola

Orchid Web (BS) 25$

Marble Branch Farms (NBS) 14$

Marlow (10 plants left BS) 20$

Hausermann's BS (15$)

First Ray's (BS) 15$

J&L (BS) 25$

Golden Gate has them, waiting to hear if they are BS, not sure it matters. Plenty to go around on this one.

Clown Alley (BS) 20$
