well, sorry to those whose plants aren’t doing so well

i guess i gotta give props to popow for some good stock. the one we got in spike is starting to bloom now, but it looks like a successive (i think im using that term right here) bloomer, in that as one new flower on a spike opens the last one seems to wither and drop. maybe it’s just not settled and stressing?

the one we put in s/h is also doing fine so far, tho i did notice some minor discoloration in the crown at the base of the newest leaf so keeping an eye on that. otherwise, i hope the struggling ones start to bounce back! good luck!

@tmoney,
So you have one in lecca and one in bark? The lecca leaves seams so green and strong compare to mine.
And the flowering one, have you considering tutoring facing up. I know some of your don't do it but I think whenever in pots some spikes and flower looks better.

hey sade, almost correct. one we put right into leca s/h, the other is still in the nursery moss as we decided just to let it flower out and repot later. im looking at the s/h one right now as i type and it’s in the group on the table of about 7 different species. its by far the darkest plant....and the stock one isn’t far behind. the leaves on both are super waxy and shiny as well, which is kinda cool. there is a blemish that arrived as a black spot but has since turned into a gaping hole. pretty sure it was some sort of damage from the pot or something, as it was right where the leaf was resting in the original pot. we will see how it goes, but so far it seems to have at least stabilized from the transition and im really hoping to see a new leaf soon!

oh, and as far as training the spikes (i think that’s what you meant by tutoring?) i/we have yet to look into how to correctly put a spike on a stick, and the couple opportunities we have had so far have been less than stellar attempts, so im personally more apt to just let em grow natural. that may not prove possible if we can get our cattleyas to rebloom!

Whelp, decision was to cut off the two nasty looking leaves from mine and sit it away for awhile. Thought I saw a spike getting caught up in the bottom of the remainder of the leaves, so I peeled them off. It was roots, which is even better in this instance. So it's gotten a reprieve from the trashcan for now.

Time will tell...
