Barkeria is something I've had on my wishlist for years, but have been afraid to try!

For a project plant, maybe it isn't ideal to be dependant on a vendor where you need to import from abroad? I'm afraid it may put people off since I'm going to assume ordering is more complex than at a US based vendor.

I'll look around. Andy might have some.

J&L has Barkeria spectabilis
Andy has Barkeria melanocaulon (halbingeri)

Rats. Neither of those would really work for me. I'm trying to stick to fall-spring bloomers and those are both summer.

Hm, I'm sure you are more familiar, but I did a quick Google search and looks like they're not listed as summer bloomers?

Keysguy 04-07-2021 05:21 PM

Really? I was going by IOSPE.

neophyte 04-07-2021 06:03 PM

Oh haha, I was looking on Andy's and a couple random websites. I guess since their natural range is closer to the equator, their flowering times can vary more.

Lol, the list of options is so long now that we should probably start ruling some out... :D

I have to find a way of sharing my list with what i found in the way of vendors so far. I think I'm going to have to put it all in manually in a thread, there's no way to share spreadsheets!

neophyte 04-08-2021 02:22 PM

Sounds great!! Maybe you can put it into a google spreadsheet and turn on link sharing?
