I've been reading posts here for a while, and figured it was about time to make an account so I can join in the fun more.

I started buying orchids early last year, from the local nursery's discount rack, and had some mixed success keeping the distressed plants alive and growing (the paph and the mystery onc. seem to be doing well). Then late last year, I started getting more plants, some of them actually in bloom and healthy, and went from about 4 to 15 in the early part of this year. I've got a lot of other houseplants, but it seems like orchids are THE plant for me.

About half of them are grocery-store phals, and the rest are NOID hybrids, or various species I've acquired (mostly) from the local orchid society shows. I've become really fond of the miniature species, though I don't have very many yet (and lately I've been researching restrepias and pleurothallis and various others a lot so that someday I'll feel up to bringing them into the house).

ETA: Okay. It seems a whole bunch of tags got automatically added to this and now I can't remove any of them. Help? (I've tried to find an answer in various how-tos; I'd delete this whole post and start over but I can't even figure that out.)
