Hello from an unlikely orchid lover
Hello to all from a very unlikely orchid lover. My wife loves orchids but has an extremely black thumb. Me on the other hand have a decent green thumb and I always enjoy a challenge. So far I have been super intrigued by the different species or orchids, and have grow to actually enjoy this new hobby with my wife. So far our collection includes 8 orchids. I am still learning all their names, but I do know I have a purple lady slipper, a Dracula orchid and a couple longer spiked orchids that have more of a tree like flowers. I also have kind of a bushy orchid that has flowers that smell like coconut.

Welcome. Names can be a challenge at first, but I encourage you to learn names at least to the point where it allows you to learn more about proper care. You have a mixed group that probably won't all thrive under the same conditions long-term. If you can post some pictures we can help with general identifications.

OH...and pictures is a great way to get the ladies like you quicker!
But PhalMadMan is right.
Drac's and Lady Slippers have different long-term needs.
Other kinds of orchids can have different needs then those two.

Welcome unlikely orchid grower! I never thought I would be able to grow them either even though I have a green thumb. I was given a Miltoniopsis by my husband and I've been hooked since.
Post pictures, there are a lot of helpful members here, great place to learn! Enjoy your new addiction.

The bushy, coconut smelling orchid is most likely Maxillaria Tenufolia. Welcome to the board.
cjm3fl mentioning pictures getting the ladies to like him will probably not go over so well with his WIFE! Lol
It is great that you and your wife have a hobby that can be enjoyed together.
