Orchid idiot here to learn

Hello all!

I am quite limited on orchid knowledge, which I'm learning, is all too common because of marketers setting consumers up to need to purchase replacements.

The instructions of adding an ice cube method to water just didn't seem to make sense in my mind, so I did some research and have managed to keep 2 gift orchids alive for over a year. I could certainly improve on the method I use because its not exactly a user friendly method (messy and time consuming).

I've joined here for a couple reasons.

First off, because I know that forums can be wonderful sources of knowledge and support. I want to improve how to take care of orchids so I can purchase an orchid that I like. Not to say the orchids I have I don't care for, but they are liked for the sentimental connection I acquired them by. I'm not a fan of purple and they are both white with purple markings.

The second reason is I have a question about one of my orchids, which I will ask in a different board of the forum.

I look forward to meeting some of you and seeing what neat stuff there is to learn.
