Hello, new member here :)
Hello everyone, I'm a young grower trying my best to take care of my plants. My mom got me into orchids, and so far I've just been sticking to mostly phalaenopsis but I do have one oncidium. Unfortunately, I live in the prairies of Canada where it is very cold and dry, but I'm still trying my best to keep my orchids happy  |

Welcome! There are several Canadian members who can give you good local advice.
While outdoor growing (except for a few months of summer) is not possible for you of course, there are lots of orchids that lend themselves to windowsill growing. Consider the "mini-Catts" - members of the Cattleya group that stay small, tolerate a large range of conditions, and often bloom twice a year, with brilliant colors.

Welcome to the Orchid Board! I think you'll find that you're not the only Canadian here. We also have members from northern latitudes in the USA and Europe. So, hopefully, we can encourage you and answer any specific questions.

Welcome from Ontario! You sure can grow orchids in Canada, all kinds of them. To help you along maybe look for online information from a fellow that grows them in his apartment, he’s on Facebook and has some very Interesting web postings with info on growing in the prairies. His name is Justin and one of his handles is herebutnot.

Oh, yes, I forgot about Dustin! He grows many orchids and other houseplants in an apartment in Calgary, AB. I bet he would be a great source of inspiration for you. I've made many visits to his website and YouTube channel, both under the name "herebutnot."
