Bc. Little Mermaid - Orchid Board

I looked up Bc. Little Mermaid on RHS and noticed it is listed as Little Marmaid. Do you think it's a typo in registration, or is that the actual name and we're spelling it wrong?

I noticed last week that all of us calling it Little Mermaid are misinformed...it is actually Marmaid

My orchid Wiz came in on Tuesday, and I got a new laptop to go with it yesterday!

Now I just have to set up the laptop and install the Wiz...Sometime over the weekend I hope. I've got a rather full plate right now...but the good news is that the plate is full of great things!

this was recently mentioned at our club meeting and the "myth" is that whomever first registered the plant either mispronounced mermaid as marmaid or misspelled it. It has persisted since then until we (and most growers) correct it to a non-search-able form.

I think all the growers and vendors should be aware of this...and not put the incorrect name on their tags
