Looks a lot like Dendrobium kingianum (which would also track with a purple flower) and the growths look like that. Of course, it is not possible to be certain without the flowers. (If that's what it is, they bloom in the spring so you have a bit of time to wait...)

Thank you! I ended up posting in the den section of the forum and got your wonderful advice. I feel so much more confident now. I also saw a video on YouTube of a Melbourne orchid collector who finds his thrive in his garden. That was good to hear too.
