Cattleya Luddemanniana?
Default Cattleya Luddemanniana?

I posted some years ago about a collection of plants one that i thought was luddemanniana was warscewiczii. This had the ‘warscewiczii’ tag, finally caught it on photo, large uni foliage growth. Do the last two photos show the horns/wings on the column?

I was just reading a fascinating article on the jenmanii.

Did you know the only cross we're heard about from the jenmannii is the Cattleya David Sander and that was 60 years ago, nothing much since.

I'm sure other have heard it all before but I didn't know the jenmanii was so new to the scene.

Cattleya jenmanii

Anyway I mention all this cause well why not a jenmanii, it certainly looks far more like it than a warscewiczii or a lueddemanniana imo. But it might be the wrong time of year for the jenmanii to be flowering!

Certainly does have that look but it is quite a large plant and i thought Jenmanii was a dwarf? I'll take some more pics of the sheath and bulbs. I think we've had this plant for about 30 years now

Possibly a Cattleya labiata? Does not look like Cattleya warscewiczii or Cattleya luddemaniana to me...

What are the wings you refer to? I'll take some photos.

Im in Australia, i had Gaskelliana flower in late October and then Labiata flower in December before Christmas. Presently all the Anceps are flowering now and Cat Bicolour

I'm no expert on this, so take it as you will

It is a little difficult to see, but it doesn't look like it has the wingged / hinged tip. It juts up and it is sort of bent. It is pretty distinctive. The wingged tip is supposed to be diagnostic for a C. lueddemanniana but if it doesn't have one... it is just inconclusive.

Here is my C. lueddemanniana alba:

Just for comparison, I looked at the three catts that were open near me.

Here is C. labiata

Here is G. skinneri

Here is a complex hybrid with mostly dowiana
