ya since the pandemic i found thousands of orchids in garbage bins none of them have roots.

someone must have bought orchids wholesale and gave up on them since a lot of them are missing roots and have no foliage. So many expensive ones here too.

If any have any roots at all, they might be worth grabbing. Sometimes a rootless orchid can be brought back, and then you either have a free orchid to keep, or you can sell it or give it away.

I think must of us around here love the challenge of rootless orchid.... that garbage bin could it be our heaven.
