Paphiopedilum delenatii ? Odd striped leaves
Question Paphiopedilum with weird striped leaves

Hello all
Can anyone please confirm the species of this Paphiopedilum? It was sold as a delenatii, but I have never seen one with striped leaves, only mottled. Is this a different species or a mutation? Something else entirely? Any help is appreciated.
Cheers!

It certainly looks like delenatii to me, but those leaves are truly unique!

I would consider that an amazing find, not a problem.

Oh I agree! I found this guy at a large local greenhouse (not sure if I’m allowed to mention names?) and thought it may have been placed in the wrong area. Just starting to rebuild my collection after 15 years and consider this a good start

It appears that you have acquired a truly unique delenatii as long as the next grown exhibits the same leaf pattern. I would consider this an exciting (and fortuitous) find.

Very cool! Keep it preciously, it could be a worth a lot for breeding purposes. Assuming it's a stable trait.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

Are you saying what a woman really wants is a nice Paph collection?

If this presently is a single growth plant, it will be interesting to hear whether new growths maintain this coloration/pattern.

I know of a variegated Paph insigne, but that plant is a chimera (some growths are green, others are variegated). What you have here could be another chimera, or a stable mutation.

Thanks for the welcome I’m judging this plant to be approx 4 years old, and the new growth is consistent with the older foliage. After the bloom fades, will be repotting in a medium course fir, spagnum, and perlite substrate. Am wondering if the plant is grown in lower light (than the greenhouse I got ‘im from) would the leaves revert to mottled? A very curious specimen this guy. Any culture tips would be appreciated. I have a good bit of experience growing but am always interested in learning something new! PS I’d be especially interested in learning how to rotate these thumbnails too

What a great find! And welcome! Use a photo editor after taking the picture to rotate the picture (whether it looks like it needs rotation or not). Then upload after. Usually solves the problem. If not, holler again and someone can assist.
