hi all,
Something wrong with my orchid, the roots are turning black, but the leaves look healthy and a new leaf is coming too. Please can someone help me what to do next

1) why roots are turning black
2) the buds are not opening
3) What has infected them?
4) Do i need to fertilize them?
5) the color of the flowers is fading
6) why does it have a white hole/ spot on the leaf, nothing below the leaf.

thank you all for your help.

Welcome to the Orchid Board! That is a very pretty Phalaenopsis hybrid.

Your plant looks healthy. Water it by soaking the contents of the pot when the medium is completely dry. Then let it dry out again.

Your home probably has lower relative humidity and temperature than the greenhouse where the plant grew. It is normal for the roots to look like yours when moved to or grown in lower humidity or temperature. The ones lower in the pot look great.

Flowers don't last forever. They fade and fall off. If new buds are drying up and falling off, it is because of the sudden change of humidity or temperature, or because you haven't watered enough. But remember to let the plant dry out between watering, or the roots will rot.

The tan hole in the leaf looks like something scraped or poked the leaf. It is not a disease.

Orchids need fertilizer, yes, to grow. But winter approaches. It won't grow much during the winter, unless you keep your house quite warm. So, it won't need much fertilizer until next spring. This will give you plenty of time to read about growing orchids.

There are some threads here that will help you a lot. You can find these if you go to the left menu, click Forums, and then click Beginner's Forum. They are in the sticky threads at the top:

The Phal abuse ends here.

I agree... it seems healthy, especially the roots.
The only "strange" thing I've noticed was that curled leaf but it may be like that to optimize light absortion.
