Hi,
I have had this phal. for about a year and a half. It is potted in...cringe...Miracle Gro Orchid mix. It seems to love it. The roots look good.

Nice green! Miracle Grow isn't too, too bad. Looks like you mastered growing in it!

Thanks

I bought a couple of bags of it for repotting the orchids I had purchased from TJ. The plants they have grown by Matsui Nursery are in a peat mix and when I have switched them to bark they struggle. I figured I would try a few phals in it since a grower not too far away grows all of hers in a peat mix based on research by someone at Matsui. The phals have done well and I let them completely dry out. I think using the clear pots really helps not to overwater them.

Nice color! Interesting stance on the spike. It must have some pulcherrima in it. That is the only species I know of that grows it's spike and flowers straight up.

Woo hoo!

I recently saw a new Miracle Gro orchid mix, supposedly chunkier and less heavy than the original ...

Thank you, I hadn't hear about it. I just looked it up. They call it their coarse mix.

I am going to try to see if these have urea in the fertilizer release.
