Phalaenopsis Mini Mark "holm" care
Default Phalaenopsis Mini Mark "holm" care

Hi everyone, I recently purchased two phalaenopsis Mini marks from an orchid show, they came with no media or anything and just the roots. I potted them right away but they aren't doing well and roots keep dying off.

I've tried finding info on care specifically to this plant but I'm actually having a hard time and only links to purchase the plant come up.

But I have read that they prefer to be watered before they fully dry out, is that true?

Would love to hear your experiences and any tips for mini mark.

Thanks

Phals. are quite similar in potting requirements. So long as their roots are well-aerated, they can stay moist during warm weather. The advice about letting them dry between waterings is for people growing them in cooler than ideal situations, like indoors for the winter.

They were bare-root for a while but should recover. Pot in medium bark, or something similar. Water by soaking in a bowl of water for a few hours. Note how heavy the pot is when you remove it. Repeat when the pot becomes considerably lighter.

It would be best to keep them as warm and humid as you can to get them re-established. Treatment with a root stimulator like Kelpak would help.

Have a look at a thread here about learning to grow Phals. From the left yellow menu select Forums then Beginners. Near the top look for the sticky thread The Phal. abuse stops here.

Thank you! Hoping for at least one of them to recover
