What a find! I would've grabbed that one as well. Absolutely gorgeous.

Gorgeous phal Camille! I have one that looks the same. I was told by someone with the same looking bloom it was called Phal Papayago. I wonder if the name I have was a name given just for selling as I can find the name for yours on orchidroots but not the name I have for mine.
Of course you did! And that was another sweet Phal. There are too many of them...

An interesting characteristic of 'Magic Art' is that the color is not just a little unstable. I've had flowers with a completely different size, shape, and pattern develop growing indoors during winter vs. Mississippi outdoor summer heat.

I didn't know that until I came across a post on this forum. It's amazing that the flowers can change so much. I'm looking forward to seeing what mine will do (if I manage to rebloom it that is).

Looks like my records will be getting a name update for that phal.

I remembered your earlier post when I saw the plant I've bought and wondered if it would show the same tendencies. I will have to do some ancestry research.

Here's my Magic Art with one solid purple petal. The flower is drying now but it gives you an idea! Also my Francis Chiada - the more outrageous a phal is then the more I like it, plain colours - meh, but spots and stripes - count me in and I'd better have 2...

I did some more research on the Phal Papagayo and I'm really confused now.

According to OrchidRoots, it should be Phal Chiada Francis (=Phalaenopsis I-Hsin Sunflower Phalaenopsis Taisuco Firebird ), registered in 2006 by Nat.Chiayi University.

However, I discovered that a Dutch breeder got a patent on Phal Papagayo in 2012 (how they did that is another issue, plants are difficult to patent in the EU) US20140090127P1 - Phalaenopsis orchid plant named 'PAPAGAYO'
- Google Patents
and the parents are listed as King Shiang's Rose x King Shiang's Star, mutant B. I don't see how they could get the patent seeing as the RHS registration predates the patent application, and so removing the novelty aspect.

I normally don't like it when there's too much going on on the flowers, but both the 'magic Art' and the Francis Chiada that you and Camille have posted in this thread, have a nice balance that I really like. If I ever come across a Francis Chiada, it'll follow me home.

Otherwise, I honestly don't know what I like really. I can like pastel colored ones, Phals with very strong and saturated colors, more demure colors, strong contrast, completely uniform colors... It's really a toss-up if I like one or not.

Chiada Francis has a 'sister' cross that is much pinker, called Pirate Picotee. I also really like that one and I occasionally see it at the garden center near me. I haven't bought one yet because I'm running out of space for large phals!

I really hope one of the local garden centers get either of them. Absolutely gorgeous and I'm missing a yellow Phal. Googled the name and it's stunning.

Here's another along these lines that I really like, though I only have a partial on the name (P. Breezes):
