Snow and Al,
Though my place is not suitable for them, there are still many people in Taiwan growing phalaenopsis. Especially for people in cities, phalaenopsis is a good choice as window plant. In south part of this island, phal. can grow happily outdoors all year round. In central and southern Taiwan, many nurseries cultivate phalaenopsis for exports and also many new hybrids are still bred by them. In southeastern Taiwan, two phal. species, P. aphrodite and P. equestris, were found there. The weather there is quite different from where i locate and it is much more like that in the Philippines and in fact, only a strait separate them. The above two species are also found in the Philippines. |
Thanks Pheli,
I didn't realize you were so close to the Phillipines. Guess it's time I take a refresher course in my geography! I have P. equestris and some of it's crosses and P. aphrodite is near the top of my wish list. I have saved the picture of your yard. It looks so lush and tropical! Al |
