If you have some technical skills, today you can build your LED light with the same price as a T5 lights.
LED light is far better than the one with T5.

Here's a fairly efficient LED if I am not mistaken is two times more efficient compared to T5. Simply disassemble tubes from an old fluorescent light and stick Linear LED strip board with adhesive thermal paste. It all depends on your imagination.

LED is the way to go. I find the best deals on ebay. Do you know what the PAR is? PAR is what you want to look for in a light these days.
It didn't give PAR info that I could find.

chanterelle,

Yes, what estación seca said. If you're happy with your T5H0 light, no need to throw it out. It does give off more heat than LEDs, as I understand it, so that's a benefit for LEDs (plants can be very near light without burning leaves from heat).

One interesting benefit of having another Sunblaster light is that if you'd like to increase the size of your grow space, or light provided, you can add the LED beside the T5H0 (I believe you can have up to four lights attached) and only use one outlet.

Nexogen,
I wish I had the talent for that. Sadly, I'm not electronically inclined.

What is the true wattage of the lamps? How many? What types of plants?

Another factor in the "existing t5 fixture" vs new led purchase, is heat. T5 produces more heat, whether that is desirable is up to the grower.

A happy medium, is to get led conversion tubes for a t5 fixture.

There isn't really a need to go crazy on wattage if it's a quality light either. Brassavola,Myrmecophila, or Vanda requirements aren't nearly as high as marijuana and veggies.
