I have found that L. anceps (and L. Finckeniana is L. anceps by L. albida) totally hates pots. Both of the parent species of L. Finckeniana do very well mounted... and are drought-resistant. So in a non-controlled environment, some types will and some won't... the Howeara also is less cold-tolerant (actually, I only have had success with it in the greenhouse) so definitely less forgiving.
