I love that!!!!!!! I just got one myself and it threw out and finished 5 new growths in one months time! the last two just completed It grows amazingly fast! I was like arent you supposed to be resting right now?! Stop growing!!!!

Yes, name changed, but I don't know anyone who has changed their labels.

This year I remembered to move plants up, so they have not been watered since Nov. Yesterday I noticed that the larger plant has 2 spikes, each a couple of inches long now.

Where do the spikes emerge from and what do they look like when they do emerge? If anyone has pictures?

I changed my labels! Can't stand not having the current name listed, but I'm an organization freak. I have mine mounted and haven't watered it since November.

@Fairorchids, do you find that they absolutely need a very cool temperature during the rest period to bloom?

I've changed my label as well. That makes two of us.

Temperature drop at night is key in getting this species to flower. When I lived in an apartment, I did this by putting it on the floor by the front door every night in late Winter. When the inflorescences began to appear out of the pseudobulbs, I quit this treatment and it would flower. Temps need to go as low as 55F.

They appear from nodes on the side of the pseudobulbs.

Thanks! Does anyone know how long into dry/cool rest period before you see results?

From November 1 to February 25 I don't give mine a drop of water. After that I water it every day, since if is mounted.

Yes, last watering in late Oct, and then none till it blooms (in this case, late February). Then you get this:
