Default Dendrobium loddigesii

I got this plant last week along with the punctata that I included in another post from my friend in Washington. I saw a loddigesii online and instantly fell in love with it. I called around to many places, but the plants were all to much for me. The plant that I recieved is a division from the seller's personal plant which she divided just before packing. It has just come out of dormancy from winter and has some new growth. The plant has about 5-6 keikis with 2-3 new one forming. Hopefully this plant will bloom once it has a chance to get acclimated to its new home. Here is a picture of my new baby. I had more pictures, but for some reason they won't upload.

Those are very healthy looking keikis. They are big enough to pot up. I grow mine mounted, because this species needs excellent drainage. I'm not so sure about your pot size, it looks a bit on the large size for this plant. Is this pot filled with sphagnum moss, or is that just a top dressing? Let us know what its growing conditions are.

I was going to pot this plant in a 4 inch basket, but I didn't have any, so I went for a 5 inch pot. The whole pot is filled with sphagnum moss, but the plant is not packed in the moss. The roots are just stuck in the moss to keep them live and to keep the plant upright. The plant is currently hanging in a window from the curtain rod, but so far I have had it outside everyday because of the good weather here in virginia. I am acclimating it to higher that normal light just like I do all of my plants. Most of my plants have acclimized to full sun during the latter part of the day and seem to grow better for me that way. What I might do with the Keikis is cut them off and place them in the moss with the original plant.

I have a small division that someone here on OB sent to me, and it is growing very well in a 6" tree fern pot. The roots are covered with a thin layer of sphag to help keep them moist until they establish themselves in the tree fern. I have 1 new cane growing, and a keiki formed at the top of a cane where it dropped a leaf. (Its such a small division that I didn't want it to try and flower, so I moved it to slightly lower light and kept it moist, and BOOM, keiki ).

I had to leave the 'chids in my hubby's care for 10 days while I was out of town, and he was letting the pot float in the sink with some potted 'chids every other day. Loddi apparently LOVED this method of watering much more than my usual drenching, because the keiki popped out a root and it grew 1/4" in 10 days!
