I think I may have it confused as to when it should bloom ....but I am still happy...
My Den Parishii has decided to make a couple of blooms before it goes to sleep ...or maybe I let it rest during the dry summer enough, I dont know but it has started a few buds and a preview will be cool.....

No secret on this one I just put it in hydrotron as soon as I got it ....not s/h the first month or so just hydrotron and lots of water fertilized weak every day ....
After a month maybe month and a half into s/h and in a spot that got full sun for a couple of hours in the mornings and realy bright light the rest of the day...I did let it go dry when it cooled off in september and I mean realy dry s/h res empty and just spray it once a day. After I brought it inside it seemed to want to keep growing so I refilled the resivor once and have been just spraying since and it decided to keep growing a while longer.....It has finaly started making smaller leaves and slowing down but this one tip decided to make a few buds, might have 5 buds but it is hard to tell for sure how many but if they go all the way 5 will be great for a off season bloom.I may discover less bloom in season who knows ,but for from a couple of nice keikis this spring to over 3 foot long canes and a few fall blooms Im happy so far.Especially since I am still learning how to grow it.

Thanks gin I just checked it and the s/h res was bone dry again so I did flush and fill since it has buds ...had to set it on top of another bigger pot once again since the tips are laying on the top of the table under it again....
But the tips have just now stopped making new leaves and stretching out longer so I figured one last fill up and then start drying it off after the buds do what ever they decide to do ...it realy would not dissapoint me for these off season buds to blast since it is off season ....lol I know it will bloom later since it is trying now.My dendrobium nestor is just now starting to get a few yellow leaves at the base too so I did a good flush with clear water for the last actual watering it will get this winter ....It is still finishing up and has freshly grown leaves at the tip of the canes so it is not quite time to go totaly dry I dont think.I was thinking after a few more leaves yellow I will dry it off more,I have been just spraying it and decreasing water but it was still making new leaves so I was letting it finish up

The pierardii will bloom with leaves or without so if you water it a little is fine , my nestor is getting there I mist it to keep the canes from shrinking mainly no fert .

I have been doing just that as you advised ....untill today and I did water it heavy for the first time since the beginning of Oct ...it has a leaf that is still emerging and not unfolded yet and I figured a clear water flush would make sure it was free from fertilizer that may have got there when I misted the others by it ....
Going to put it farther away from them now so it does not catch over spray from tending others and I have not fertilized it since the beginning of Oct either ....should be fine it is starting to lose lowest leaves just this week.

Good idea to move it. I have the ones that are resting crammed in a cool corner on the porch , not the pierardii it is still in the green house the nestor is on the porch with the ones that like cooler conditions ..
