Need advise - Dendrobium Nobile Violet Fizz Luna Male
Default Need advise - Dendrobium Nobile Violet Fizz Luna

Hello,
I purchased a Dendrobium Nobile Violet Fizz Luna from a local orchid show back in 2018. It was beautiful, healthy green, and full of blooms at the time. I clearly didn't know what I was getting into and its health has slowly declined over the years. The canes have gone from dark green to a light greenish-yellow. Most of the leaves have fallen. There are also roots and sprouts at the top of the canes. On a positive note, it has grown another cane within the last year.

Up until now, I've only had experience in caring for Phals. I'll admit I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to caring for this orchid. It's currently in a west window, medium indirect sunlight and I water it once a week. I've read some online resources on it but there so confusing to understand with all the referenced seasons, day/night temperatures, and watering cycles.

I would love to give the care that this orchid needs to be healthy, and blooming again. Any recommendations on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Brandon

Your plant looks healthy to me. Shed leaves is normal for nobiles.
This might be useful.

They need a lot of water during the growing season, while making new growths. They should never dry out while growing. Once a week watering probably isn't enough then. In winter once every 1-2 weeks is fine.

Thank you "rbarata" and "estación seca" for the information. I thought for sure I was slowly killing my Den Noble. I'll be sure to water it more frequently during the growing season.

Thanks again!
Brandon
