Exploring the lures and deceptions that orchids have evolved to attract pollinators is a deep dive into a fantastic world. The subject fascinated Darwin enough that he wrote a book on it. On the Various Contrivances by Which British and Foreign Orchids are Fertilised by Insects. And ever since, people have been studying the interaction between orchids and pollinators (sex life of orchids) . I wonder if perhaps those whiskers wave in the breeze saying "Come hither"...

There's also a wonderful BBC mini-series (two programs) with Sir David Attenborough (one of my favorite people) "Plants Behaving Badly". The one on carnivorous plants is subtitled "Murder and Mayhem" and the one on orchids is subtitled "Sex and Lies"

Now you've got me imaging it to be a burlesque dancer with a yellow feather boa
