Green Complex in bloom again!
Default Green Complex in bloom again!

This is paph. ([Elfstone X Henryanum] X [Lavender Lovely X P.Shamrock]) that I got last December in bloom.
It since grew two new growths, one of which matured and began to develop a bud back in May. It finally opened up two weeks ago. Wow~ it's been taking forever!

I wasn't sure if the bud would make it through the hot summer, but I guess Henryanum background might have helped.

The bloom opened up green but soon turned yellowish. I wonder if it's the temperature influence because the winter bloom stayed green before turning yellow and wilting.

Another difference I notice is that the dorsal is more elongated vertically and slightly bent forward on top as opposed to full round flat doral of winter bloom. hmmmm

The first picture below is of the winter bloom and the next one is of the current bloom.

All I did was watering and occasional fertilizing. lol

By the way, you should see how glossy shiny the flower is. It only shows just little bit in the first picture. I just have hard time getting that shine in the picture.

Now I'm hoping my other green complex will also flower, but they might need cooler condition. I'm not sure but time will tell.

This one is definitely grower friendly.

Great job. Some are so easy, then others you have to pull out your hair and stand on your head to get them to bloom.

Question

I'm always interested in the pedigree / ancestry of the paphs, but you have me stumped ?

Paph. Elfstone X Paph henryanum is an Orchid Zone cross registered in 2005 and was registered as Rainbow Sky.

I can not find a Paph Lavender Lovely registered. Tried a few variations but nothing with Lavender Lots of Lovely's (Stone Lovely, In-Charm Lovely, etc). Is the 'Lavender' correct ?

And Paph P.Shamrock I believe is Paph Pacific Shamrock, another Orchid Zone registered cross from 1998.

Hi, Charlie,
I just copied what it says on the tag the plant came with.
I am familiar with all except for the lavender lovely.
Mistakes can happen, so there you go!

P. Shamrock is pacific shamrock, which is a very well known large green complex.
