Paph Complex hybrid 'Starship'

Well, the day has came...and yeah the flower could flatten a bit more, but I wanted to share. This is my first paph to flower in this house (I think I might have killed a bellatum once in another house).
Now if I can just repeat this ?next? year and call it my own. I also have a maudie that I'm hoping will bloom in the spring.

cool one! sometimes for me these hybrid paphs can get muddy and lose some definition, but this one is pretty good and i really like the variegated lip/pouch! nice touch!

it has also been our experience that paphs are probly more addicting than other orchids. it feels like a real accomplishment any time we get one to bloom!

Hope yours flattens out.
My Maudie had its bloom 6 weeks and then in 24 hours faded.
I just cut it off yesterday.
And mine did flatten more, very slowly over the time was in bloom.

Often it takes more than a year for the second bloom, but after that it should flower each year.

I might find that next fall, I need another...to bridge the flowering gap *lol*. You know how the orchid collecting bug is...
Assuming of course that my culture proves good for Paphs.

Complex or Bulldog Paphs should be considered fairly easy to grow. I would think anybody good with houseplants should be good with these. They only need constant moisture, small amounts of fertilizer, low light and repotting every 1-2 years. Typical household temperatures are fine for them.

You can say that...but the proof is in the pudding (aka time will tell). I *think* I can grow one...but I haven't yet Not till the old orchid meme is fulfilled and I produce a bud on a new growth of my own growing

One thing to remember about Paphs' cycle - they produce new growth, then produce roots, and only after that do they bloom. How long it takes depends on the plant - "bulldogs" are a lot faster than multiflorals, for instance. But a small plant may still take a couple of years to next blooming. Once it gets several fans going, the odds of annual (or even more frequent) blooming improve.

Thanks (though I had nothing to do with it beyond nursing a bud to opening), but I think it's properly a 'grex' vs a cultivar. It's a seed raised plant, so is unique, though from the two pics posted by the grower, it seems relatively similar along with my third.
Well, I have a six week or so cycle to enjoy the flower, then I have to enjoy the new growth that is very tiny but the fan is just beginning to open now for however long it takes.
Roberta, did you mean the fan begins then roots, or the growth mostly completes then roots? Remember this genus is quite new to me.
