What is the easiest slipper orchid hybrid to grow? Female
Default What is the easiest slipper orchid hybrid to grow?

Hi. I have never grown slipper orchids. I would like to try growing one. Could anyone suggest the very easiest hybrids to try? I’d appreciate it if you could suggest at least two or three, to maximise my chances of finding them in Australia.
Thanks.

I suspect any of the mottled-leaved so-called “Maudiae types” fit the bill, as they can handle conditions similar to phals, possibly with a bit more light.

Hi Ross

If you could give us more info about your environmental conditions it would be easier. There are thousands of orchid species and hybrids all with different requirements.
In general, slipper or chids are divided in two diferent types: the ones with mottled leaves sugested by Ray are more suitable to warm environments. The ones with plain leaves are more suitable to cooler environments.

Do you grow on your windowsill, or a greenhouse?
