It's a really interesting cross. Both parents are on the small size compared to their close cousins, so I bet it's nice and compact.

Seems to have proportionally large flowers, and the coloration on the lip is an example of the fischeri and longifolium genes playing together really nicely.

Do you grow it sitting in water? I'm guessing it would be happy when grown that way.

Nice colourful flower indeed.
I was curious about its parentage. It is registered as Phragmipedium hartwegii x fischeri. If you accept hartwegii as an ecotype of longifolium and fischeri as an ecotype of schlimii (both from Ecuador), you get the well known Phragmipedium Sedenii.
This is an easily available hybrid and reasonable priced.

I am a bit afraid of Phrags because I think they are HUGE! Like a cimbidium!

I especially like the dark "rasberry" type pink lip with the kind of vanilla with little cherry flecks inside.

Man, I must have ice cream on my mind! Yeah, these colors make me think of fruity sweet ice cream!

Since Bethmarie had generously sold this plant to me, I thought an update was in order. I still love it! Here it is with 2 blooms at once, the old one had not fallen yet.

About 4 years late here.

But it was good that you mentioned that, because when I first looked at the opening post, the first thing that came to mind when observing the colour of the 'shoe' part was one of those berry jams. Fantastic!
