Default Cyrtopodium punctatum

I got a division from a friend in mid 2016 and was not expecting a bloom so quickly. Anyway, its not a huge spike for the species but I'm still happy! I've got another plant with a first bloom spike popping as well. I'll post pics of the smaller plant when it opens up, probably in about a month.

Why this is in the Cymbidium Alliance I will never understand, but apparently it is.

Ha! I was wondering if you'd chime in! Maybe we should sit down some taxonomists and give them a hard time lol

I know there are some Cyrt x Cym hybrids out there so I guess they're close enough to interbreed.

Wink

Beautiful or not, it is not a Cymbidium and I suspect it will not thrive under the same conditions as most of the readers of this forum have. Are you just testing the waters here Isurus?

I am sure some erudite taxonomist with argue with me but call me a purist, that is just my opinion.

You're absolutely correct! Hot and bright (full Texas sun with no shade) to grow these during the growing season and hot, bright, and dry in winter.
