grammatophyllum leopard? Female
Question grammatophyllum leopard?

Hello
I just purchased and orchid yesterday. Tag reads grammatophyllum leopard. I have been doing some research and I think I am reading that she blooms every 5-10 years. I just can't believe it.... My tag dose not say scriptum so I am hoping that this is not the same. And I will have more frequent blooming. I can not find much info for the leopard type. I am not sure if this is a hybrid or species. It is in a 1 gallon pot and has 6 growths standing at 4 1/2 feet tall. Two spikes and loads of flowers for the eyes xoxoxo I just love the light green flower and the contrast of the spots. I am really hoping I do not have to wait 5 plus years to see her flower again. I have a hard enough time with waiting for one year lol..lol if anyone has some secrets they can share with me. So I can keep her beautiful it would be very helpful. I was told medium light and water twice a week.thanks for reading sky

What a beauty! ... and the flower's nice, too.

Really nice dark brown spots & bars ... the flower, not your daughter.

I'd guess that the plant is some kind of Grammatophyllum hybrid because of the plant size, the flower coloring & when it's blooming. I don't think there is a species called Gram leopard, so the leopard part is either a Hybrid name (Gram Leopard) or a clonal name ('Leopard'). There is probably Gram scriptum involved.

In any case, judging by the plant size & Gram habits, I doubt that you will have to wait 5-10 years for a rebloom. Given proper conditions, the plant should bloom every year. The plant should be given bright cattleya to vanda light. The root ball will become large, so be sure to plant with very good drainage. There was another recent thread about Gram scriptum.

It may be Gram. Yuan Nan Leopard(Yuan Nan Tiger x scriptum). Gram. hybrids are rather not a shy bloomer than species like scriptum.

This is my Yuan Nan Tiger in bloom now, free bloomer but very very huge bulbs!!

What a cutie in her little sundress!! An orchid enthusiast in the making?

Your blooms are beautiful too! The p-bulbs are so fat!! I hope you don't have to wait 5 years, too! I don't think I could hold out that long.
