Angry Cymbidium leaves yellowing/browning

Hello, recently my family got a cymbidium with two new growths and flowers. The flowers have opened, however the two new growths have fallen off and the leaves are beginning to yellow/brown. It was very wet for the first couple of weeks after we got it. Is this overwatering? How can I stop this from continuing? Thank you for your time

Without knowing what the potting mix is, and how much you are watering it, it is difficult to comment.

My Cymbidium are in a well draining terrestrial mix. In summer (when they are outside in full sun), I water 3 times a week - with a sprinkler running 3-4 hours.

In the the greenhouse in the middle of winter, I water with a hose about every 5 days (more frequently if the sun is out, less if it is mostly overcast).

With this schedule, I do loose the occasional new growth, but overall the plants are doing fine.

nic it can be a variety of things.
But usually our gut instinct is right. Your was telling you the substrate wasn't drying for weeks which most likely caused the roots to go bad and one symptom can be the plant shedding leaves. Temps can have an effect(not likely an issue for a cymbidium though), overfertilizing can cause leaf die back, lack of certain nutrients can show similarly.
I'd certainly start with a repot. Give it some fresh media and remove any decaying roots.

It is quite natural for all living plants lose leaves from time to time so don't lose any sleep unless you think the plant is going down hill generally.

If the new growths were rotting out, I suspect you had crown rot as a result of water staying too long in the crowns.
