Default Coelogyne Marthae

This robust specie has large ovoid and slightly flattened pseudos and the biggest I have is 7 inches. The leaves are thin and stiff… the longest I have is 25 inches long. This is one of my largest plants as tall as my two Cymbidiums and my dove orchid. There are four spikes on this and two have given me 12 flowers on each spike….the spikes appeared as new growths are developing to about a foot and I measured the longest spike to 14 inches long and pendulous. This plant has given me a magnificent display of blooms each measuring 4.5 inches in diameter that is highly fragrant with the scent of talcum baby powder.
Positioned on the very end of the kitchen window facing east giving it low to medium light and intermediate to warm temps. High humidity with my 3 gallon humidifier plus when I am cooking/boiling produced lush growth. I let the mix dry slightly between watering (medium bark, charcoal, lava rock, coco chip and loose shards of tree fern), but not completely dry. Fertilizer weekly weakly alternating the Algoflash and seaweed mix. This got some black spots at the end of the leaves of only one bulb…the other three doesn’t have the spotting…I was deducing it is from cold water spray that the sun dried on the leaf…At first when I couldn't find the exact culture for this plant; I decided to treat it like a Cattleya…but now I have come up with my own culture that works for me on my windowsill

Thank You, Lecent !
The real color is on picture #7...the others seem more yellow ...but the outdoor overcast sky captured the real color of the flower

Beautiful Bud! What kind of humidifier do you use? I need to get one but don't know what to get. Is it made especially for plants or is it a humidifier you can get at a drug store? Thanks! And great growing!

Thank You, Sonya !

Thank You, Wynn Dee !

I got my humidifier from Amazon.com used (I think it was returned and was resold; )

Honeywell HCM-300T QuietCare 3-Gallon UV Tower Humidifier

This is just an ordinary home humidifier...I dont think they have a specific humidifier for plants...there are some drug store humidifiers but they are small and just for overnight...I chose a heavy duty humidifier that can be refilled after 24 hrs and can humidify the whole room

your grow zone will have a lot of humidity for the coming 4 months...I would worry in winter when it is dry...unless you have a centralized air conditioning like my apartment... it dries the plants really bad, thats why I need a humidifier all year round.
