Anyone know how long the blooms last? Mine are starting to fade after about two weeks or so.

I can't speak to Coel. mayeriana specifically, but that sounds about right for the Coelogynes that I do grow. Not particularly long lasting.

Phooey. The flowers are so impressive and the colors intense and well defined, I wish it would stay like that for months. Oh well, I'll just have to grow it out some more. (It's where the real enjoyment is anyhow).

I have another question on my not so little girl again. She is already out growing the 8" pot I put her in, with two new bulbs starting to overhang the rim. I just took a 10"+ pot, cut a bunch of holes in the sides and turned it into a poor man's orchid pot! My question is since this pot is maybe 11" deep. Do the roots on this plant go that deep or should the pot be shallower? If so, I need to rethink the way I repot her.
Thoughts?

They go deep and wide. Most people put them into some sort of very wide basket, but tolerate the fact they walk out into the air almost right away.

Just a quick follow up. This plant grows like a weed and is in almost constant flower! I have her outside in a small hobby GH for spring and summer and she's loving it.

Today the temps in the GH was 106 degrees F this morning around 10am, and the humidity at 85%. All my orchids get watered down two and sometimes three times a day when the temps are this high. I also have 4 vents open, a fan running and a 60% shade cloth, white. Everyone is doing great except the zygos. They complain because of the heat. They'll get through it, but they are not happy campers!
