Brassavola latinized = in honor of the Italian doctor and botanist d Antonio Musa Brassavola (1500-1555)
nodosa from Latin = knotted, with knots

Don't mean to churn up the water but some of the leaves appear to be covered with a yellowish spotty coating unlike the right side of the plant which is clean.

You are right DeaC, it's a kind of seaweed that can be simply removed with a wet mop....next spring's job
