Hey guys! So, it's been a couple weeks and I think it's doing...ok all things considered? One leaf did yellow and drop off, but I imagine that's due to the plant being stressed from repotting. I've been watering it once a week. The pseudobulbs haven't seemed to get much plumper (at least from what I can tell), but the new growths it had put out earlier this summer look fine. I have seen a few new roots as well, which is good. It also has 2 new "eyes"... not sure what's gonna happen with those, whether they'll just stay dormant until next summer or if they're gonna start growing now.

Glad it seems to be having a come back. I know they like to dry out before they are watered again but I found out mine in small pots dry out too fast and I have to water them about every other day. I do use the bamboo skewers and have found out even with a bit of moister in it I can't let them get bone dry.

Especially after I first re-pot them. I know it sounds like allot but it is so dry here they just need it. I'm sure most people don't have to but I have killed several from under watering. I don't think I have ever drowned one yet. That's just me.

Great to hear that it is recovering!
I have had to restart quite a few orchids. In the early days it was because I tried using bark and bark doesn't work for me but I often end up finding that when un-potting a newly bought orchid, the roots are all dead. This spring, I collected a few more of those. It happens. This is the first year I tried a seaweed additive and I was very pleased at the results.

estación seca, with the Laelia purpurata, you could stake it on top of red lava rock (or another favorite medium). The medium being damp helps to provide humidity for the new roots without the threat of rotting or bruising them. I found that is a pretty good way to rescue completely rootless Cattleyas. The roots will grow into the medium and eventually stabilize the orchid (and you can then remove the stakes). If there are any new roots, just leave them on top of the medium so as not to harm them.
I just gave away my Laelia purpurata last month. It was getting too large to fit under the lights and I realized that they get two feet tall! They are beautiful orchids and I hope the OS member that now has it will bring it in someday when it is in bloom.
