Encyclia (I think) ID?
Default Encyclia (I think) ID?

I saw this today at the Isabella Gardner museum, and I liked it. Once I'm settled in LA, I will hopefully have an outdoor space for housing a plant of this size. Does anyone have a guess as to what it is so that I can try to find it? I'm asking about the white flowers with maroon spots and a purplish lip. Sorry I couldn't get any closer. I wasn't allowed in the greenhouse, and that's where it was.

Looks great and well grown!

*adds one to the list*

If you're taking this one into California from out of state, you'll need to jump through some hoops to not get them confiscated. California agriculture is vital to the industry and state troopers will confiscate non certified plants/plant material at the border. This is coming from experience when the man took away my mango when I was a child. It still breaks my heart.

I'm not, but I am taking plenty of others that are already in my possession. From my reading, clean and healthy looking orchids should be fine. Agricultural plants (like mangoes), would not be. I guess I'll see!

You are right, it's in the Cattleya alliance, a former Encyclia, now often Anacheilium. Can't tell you the species though.
