This is what I use, 3/4" masonry drill bit. Gets the job done well :-)
Don't know how well the "diamond tip" holds up over time, I'm sure quality of craftsmanship plays a role in it. Not so much with this thing. It's for masonry specifically & cuts through pots easily with light pressure & running water at the point of contact. Pretty cheap too, so I have several sizes for different sized pots. Hope it helps!

brn thumbs that looks like the one he used. I hadn't thought about under water, hummmmmm may have to give that a try. And he may have to get more sizes I know he had at least two different ones.

Have any of you tried drilling through one that is glazed? I know they have those clay pots that they put colored glaze on an I was thinking that I might have him try and drill one of those.

I have been working on making home made orchid pots for the last two days...It works great My only suggestion would to make sure and have it really good and soaked before drilling. Also keep lock tite close to use just in case one breaks..I have found that the cracks and broken pieces save me time from making more holes. Over all it works wonderfully THANK YOU @ BRN_THMBS I had never heard of this before but it works great!!!
