Default Slc. Sierra Doll

Slc. Sierra Doll is a mini-cattleya. I put it in this 6" wood basket in January and it started growing roots immediately. So after just 4 months in the basket it bloomed. The flowers are 3" across. I'm hoping it gets well established this summer and blooms on more leads next year.

That's beautiful. I have no experience growing in baskets, what happens when the plant gets too big?

I don't think baskets would be good for NY but I grow my orchids outdoors in hot, humid South Florida and they work great down here. I either let the orchid grow out over the sides and around the basket or I put the entire basket inside a larger one.

Oh I wasn't considering growing in baskets here I was just curious as to what happened when it outgrew the basket. Thanks
