Here is a pic of the orchid in question.

It is difficult to know without a few questions, first. What is your lighting? My catts get strong south-window light in winter and go outdoors in the summer. Do you flush your pots to eliminate fertilizer residue from concentrating? Does your water provide the important micronutrients missing from your fertilizer that plants all need? How are your roots? Do you repot when the bark gets decomposed? (I dislike repotting so I mount or use red lava rock for most of my orchids). What are your temps? My home is ~64'F so I don't fertilize from Nov until Feb. except to make certain the catts have a source of calcium (I use egg or oyster shell). During the summer, I will now use an MSU fertilizer but, in the past, I had to use suppliments to keep my catts happy. I hope this helps. It is how I grow most of my catts. Good luck!

I would suggest creating a new thread for this question so more people will see and answer it.

Great colours!

That is a really fine plant! I'm impressed. That particular color isn't something I would have picked out for myself, not really my style, but even with that, I can tell that is a well grown, well flowered plant, and you've done a great job. Congratulations.

7 years or so late on this one. The colours of that Burana Beauty are very nice I must say.

The colors are what made me get one recently, I think it was WaterWitchin's plant that made me want one. Afterwards I discovered it is fragrant and grows fast since it stays very small so seems like a good addition.
I was really worried when I checked on it tonight I thought oh no, I see something dark and wet. So I got the plant out and for a good 10 minutes I thought the newest growth had died.
Nobody warned me how dark the bulbs can be on the burana beauty. Once I got the torch out to inspect it closer I realized it was doing fine and was in fact purple or very dark but growing well.

I am glad that you discovered it is fine. A pigmented developing eye is common among Cattleyas. This is a really old thread. :)
