Aha! Good of you to look it up. So the Brassavola part was probably B digbyana (now Rhyncholaelia digbyana). I covered the Laelia part changing to Cattleya, but I didn't even think about the Brassavola part.

(Just as I guessed from the clonal name, it was registered by my friend).

I would say that North West light would be fine for a phal, but the catts need more. I have mine in a South window during the winter. We don't get much sun, though. You might be better with a little shading such as a shear curtain, since I believe you do get sun during the winter.

We get more sun than southern california here in Denver. It only gets a small amount of morning sun and not for long where it is now. Its in a NE window. Thanks.

Where are you? The sunshine is wonderful and its strong since we are a mile high, however I don't care or it here, I like the East Coast much better, people have much better manners and are friendlier. No one is "from" here so there is no sense of community similar to Florida. The weather and the State itself is gorgeous though! Food is terribly expensive here too. Orchids love it!
